Communication is just as important as the technicals in the world of capital markets. As many financial professionals engage with clients and colleagues from potentially numerous locations of the world, they need to communicate just as well as they solve problems. With that said, Capital Markets Group is excited to be collaborating with Ryerson Toastmasters to provide a great workshop for our members. This workshop will consist of how to effectively sell and present as well as an overview of creating visual presentations such as pitch books.

Our industry teams will be presenting their pitch presentations in front of a panel of industry professionals. Everything learnt by our analysts prior to this day will be utilized and feedback will be provided for the analysts. This event will surely test the knowledge and skill sets of our members, but also allow them to grow and learn how to properly carry out a recommendation to industry professionals.

In the fall semester, Shoeb hosted our series of MarketSavvy programs, which can be views in Events 2011 section. For the winter semester, Shoeb is pleased to present his InvestorSavvy program. The first date for this series is the 6th of March, 2012 starting at 6:30pm

The objective of CMG’s “Day in a Life Series” is to expose CMG members, as well as the Ryerson student body, to leaders in the financial industry, notably within Capital Markets. These events highlight industry professionals’ daily activities, their path to success, and provide advice and recommendations for students wishing to enter their field. A question and answer session is followed by a professionally catered networking event.

This year, we have new speakers lined up for TRSM, as well, as a panel of successful professionals in the field of Capital Markets at the end of the year. Mark the dates on your agenda!

Capital Markets Group will be hosting a workshop, presented by Marquee Group, surrounding financial modeling and their significance in the industry. The session will include the creation of financial models and how they are used in the capital markets. The Marquee Group provides leading edge financial modeling training to numerous industry professionals. Having the opportunity to receive this exclusive training is sure to give you that edge in the industry as well as a chance to have many questions answered by the best.

Our Director of Human Resource held numerous sessions for our member base in November to contribute to their professional development. The sessions were geared to help our members with the process of attaining a job in the capital markets industry by focusing on behavioural, technical and analytical perspectives on the interview process. With a successful establishment of the initiative, we are confident it will continue moving forward. Check out the info here.

CMG ran a successful set of Build Your Network events in 2011 to help introduce our group to welcome the incoming students at TRSM. We hope all the students who attended found value in what we offered. Further, we are happy to have coverage of the final BYN event, check out the video here.

After the first year of running a fully functioning analyst program, our team has worked hard during the break to only make it better. We have made numerous advancements in adding value to the professional development that the program already provides for our analysts. With additions to the team, as well as additions in our relationships to industry, we are confident in the success of the program in the following term.
